where it began
Graduating from Macquarie University in 1986 with a BA in Psychology and in 1988 with a Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Sydney University, Lidy uses her many skills to work with individuals, couples and families in assisting them to deal with the crises that invariably present themselves as part of modern life.
Lidy is also a Clinical Hypnotherapist and an NLP and Time Line Therapy Master Practitioner and uses these skills extensively in her practice.
More recently in 2004 Lidy qualified, with a Graduate Diploma in Family Dispute Resolution, and practices Family Law Mediation assisting parents and children through their separation and divorce proceedings. And a further qualification in working with children allows Lidy to include children in her mediation work.
The latest string in Lidy's bow has been added as a consequence of her training in working with couples as a Pre-Marriage Counsellor.
As a result of Lidy's extensive qualifications her work is now dedicated principally to working with individuals, couples and families who are working through separation issues.
And with membership to a number of associations including ACA and ASCH you can be assured that she conducts herself in a professional manner at all times.
Lidy's more recent accomplishments has now taken her business onto the internet through her site at A Couples Journey which is totally dedicated to couples about to marry or who are already married seeking very specific advice.
Lidy is fully registered with the Australian Counsellors Association, ACA and is a full member of the Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists, ASCH. She is also a member of LEADR, that keeps Lidy informed about what's happening with Family Law and is a Certified Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Attorney General's Department as well as a qualified Child Consultant for the Attorney General's Department.
FIONA MACGREGOR - Associate B Psych Hons, M Clin Psych, Dip Clin Hyp, CMAPS, ASCH
Fiona's qualifications are a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology, from the University of New South Wales, and a Bachelor of Psychology with honours from Macquarie University. In addition to her academic qualifications, Fiona has specific training and experience working with adolescents and with grief and bereavement, and she has a number of years experience as a hospital-based counsellor working with depression, anxiety and addictions.
Fiona's areas of expertise and interest include grief and bereavement, adjustment to life events, challenges, and change; relationship issues such as relationships with partners, friends, colleagues, or family; parenting issues; adolescent issues; drug and alcohol problems; depression and other mood difficulties; stress management and life balance; and anxiety and anxiety disorders.
Another area of interest and specialist training for Fiona is hypnotherapy. Fiona belongs to the Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists, has completed training as a hypnotherapist at the Australian Society of Hypnosis, and has worked as hypnotherapist for a number of years. Fiona offers hypnosis for a range of issues such as quitting smoking, changing habits, relaxation, sleep, pain, stress management, and general wellbeing. As a clinical psychologist she is well qualified to use hypnosis appropriately, in the context of a broader and comprehensive therapeutic approach. This means that she can assess whether hypnosis is warranted for a particular person or issue, and can advise on helpful combinations of hypnosis and other therapies.
Fiona is an insightful and supportive therapist, skilled at adapting her therapeutic approach to each individual's needs and objectives. In addition to her work as a therapist, she has conducted honours and masters level research aimed at better understanding physical and biological aspects of psychological processes, particularly neurotransmitter pathways in the brain.
